"carrot"

Why was the last time you ate carrot?

Carrot is an important food that should be consumed regularly according to scientists.

Carrots known for their bright colours due to its rich beta-carotene content has been found to slash a woman’s chances of developing certain types of breast cancer by up to 60 percent.

In a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, researchers found that women who ate foods packed with beta-carotene like carrots were between 40 and 60 percent less likely to develop oestrogen receptor negative breast cancer.

Scientists from all across Europe studied 1,500 women diagnosed with breast tumours and another 1,500 who were cancer-free.

The researchers in a press report said: “Our results indicate higher concentrations carotene are associated with lower breast cancer risk of oestrogen negative tumours.”
