"couple"

Before getting married, the only milestone that most people acknowledge is getting engaged, as this directly leads to getting married.

While being engaged is a milestone, it isn’t one that comes out of the blue; there are many other important milestones that come before you get engaged, and they are also important.

Below are some relationship milestones you should also be proud of.

1. WHEN YOU AND YOUR PARTNER FORGE A STRONG UNDERSTANDING

Understanding is a very important part of any relationship or marriage and it’s highly needed for a marriage to be successful. If you and your partner have built a good understanding in the course of the relationship then it’s a huge milestone that should be celebrated.

2. WHEN YOU SUPPORT EACH OTHER

When you and your partner are there for each other and support each other through thick and thin and do your best to make each other better then that’s a huge milestone that should be celebrated.

3. WHEN YOU LOVE EACH OTHER GREATLY

Love should never be underrated; if you and your partner love each greatly then it’s also an important milestone that should be acknowledged.

4. WHEN YOU TRUST EACH OTHER

Many homes and relationships have broken up because trust was damaged. When you and your partner trust each other and are true and faithful to each other then you have a relationship that many couples can’t boast of and that’s a milestone.

5. WHEN YOU REALISE THAT YOU CAN’T DO WITHOUT EACH OTHER

When you both realise that you mean a lot to each other and can’t do without each other then that’s an important milestone that shows the relationship is heading in the right direction.

6. WHEN YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH EACH OTHER

When you feel comfortable with each other and you are your real selves then that’s another stepping-stone in the relationship that should be acknowledged.

7. WHEN YOU ARE STILL ATTRACTED TO EACH OTHER NO MATTER WHAT

Attraction is an important part of a relationship and marriage. When you lose that physical attraction for your partner and vice-versa, the relationship would be bound to fail. When you and your partner are still attracted to each other no matter what then that’s a milestone.

8. WHEN YOU STILL REMAIN STRONG AFTER A QUARREL

Quarrels, fights and misunderstanding might come up, but if you and your partner still remain strong and know how to settle your differences then that’s a milestone that should be celebrated.

9. WHEN YOU KNOW HOW TO COMMUNICATE WITH EACH OTHER

Not every couple knows how to communicate and some couples can’t communicate without having a quarrel. Communication is an important part of a relationship and if you and your partner know how to communicate with each other then that’s a very important relationship milestone.

There are so many other relationship milestones that ought to be celebrated before getting engaged; don’t wait till you get engaged before you acknowledge how far your relationship has come.
