A growing amount of research has warned about the hazards of not having enough sleep as you risk having heart diseases, obesity and other conditions.<\/p>\n

So what is the right amount of sleep our body needs? The largest physician-based organization for sleep medicine, The American Academy of Sleep Medicine suggests adults should get at least seven hours of sleep a night.<\/p>\n

Getting less than six hours of sleep a night has been associated with heart attacks, obesity, diabetes, stroke and reduced mental alertness.<\/p>\n

Inadequate sleep could lead to obesity by driving up the levels of appetite-inducing hormones.<\/p>\n

Another study also found that healthy adults had higher blood pressure after sleeping for four hours in a night compared to when they slept for eight hours.<\/p>\n

So ensure you get at least seven hours of sleep tonight.<\/p>\n
