1. SUGARY SNACKS<\/b><\/p>\n

Sugary snacks like cakes and doughnuts should be avoided before bed because they digest at a much slower rate than other foods.<\/p>\n

2. COFFEE<\/b><\/p>\n

I understand coffee is a drink and not a food but I added it to the list because coffee ought to be avoided before bed. The caffeine in coffee stimulates your nervous system and keeps you awake at night.<\/p>\n

3. RED MEAT<\/b><\/p>\n

Your body works really hard to digest food high in protein like red meat when you are getting into the sleep mode. Go for fresh fruits or vegetables as they digest much faster than red meat.<\/p>\n

4. SWEET CEREAL<\/b><\/p>\n

Avoid the temptation of having a bowl of cereal before bed as they won\u2019t do your blood sugar a whole lot of good and you end up storing them as fat as you sleep.<\/p>\n

5. ALCOHOL<\/b><\/p>\n

Another on the list is technically a drink but isn\u2019t a food but it really deserves to be on the list. Taking alcohol before bed isn\u2019t a good idea as it has a dehydrating effect on the body and this would slow down all the good restorative work your body would otherwise do while you\u2019re asleep. So that\u2019s a good reason to avoid alcohol before you head to bed.<\/p>\n
