I once did an article 7 signs you are in a fake relationship, and it would only be fair to write on the signs of a real relationship; I mean who wouldn’t want to be in a real relationship?

Almost everyone has found themselves in a relationship they wouldn’t term real, but everyone dreams about being in that relationship where they can call home—that’s the kind of relationship you can call ‘real’.

7 signs you are in a real relationship

1. HAPPINESS

You can only feel at home in a relationship when you are happy; a relationship can only be termed real when both partners are happy, and it doesn’t just end at them being happy, they also work hard to ensure that they remain happy — the happiness of one partner is seen as a major responsibility by the other partner — that’s a real relationship.

2. COMMUNICATION IS REGULAR

If there is no desire for your partner to keep in touch or vice-versa then that isn’t a real relationship. A relationship is true and real when there is constant communication and a strong desire for partners to always keep in touch; anything other than that isn’t a real relationship. Communication plays a huge role in the success of a relationship.

3. LOVE EXISTS

Actually, this should have even been written first; a relationship can only be termed real only if both partners are truly in love with each other. If love doesn’t exist in that relationship then I wonder what the two people are in a relationship for.

4. UNSELFISH

A real relationship isn’t selfish; in a real relationship both partners make certain sacrifices to ensure the success of that relationship; self is put aside and unselfish and sacrificial thinking becomes their daily motto — that’s a true relationship.

5. THEY TRY TO BUILD UNDERSTANDING

A real relationship is characterised by understanding between both partners; it’s what makes it more successful than an ordinary relationship. However, understanding doesn’t just fall from the skies, you work for it, and you build it gradually until it becomes part and parcel of that relationship.

6. THERE’S A DESIRE TO BE WITH EACH OTHER

It’s funny that in some relationships, partners prefer to be alone rather than with their so-called better half, and not just in relationships but even in some marriages as well. Your partner shouldn’t just be your partner, your partner should be your friend and companion. A real relationship is marked by strong bond and friendship between partners.

7. BOTH PARTNERS ARE DEDICATED TO EACH OTHER

A relationship means work, but work that you should enjoy; a real relationship is characterised by strong dedication from both partners. In a real relationship, partners are committed to each other, they are faithful and they work hard not to make unnecessary and silly mistakes.

Not everyone can brag about being in such a relationship, but it’s pertinent everyone strive to build such a relationship and appreciate every effort from a partner that’s trying to build such a relationship.
