There have always been this thing about men’s facial hair and how attractive or unattractive it is; some ladies prefer men with trimmed beards while some love it when their man does the Rick Ross beard thing.
A 2013 research conducted in Australia shows that women prefer men with heavy stubble to men with trimmed or completely shaven beards.
The research published in Journal Evolution & Human Behavior revealed that men who spot beards edged their counterparts. To conduct the research, University of New South Wales professors Barnaby J. Dixson and Rob C. Brooks presented ten photos of smiling men to 371 women. Each man in the photos was shown in four ways: clean-shaven with five days of beard growth (that is light stubble), 10 days of growth (that is heavy stubble), and with a full beard.
The researchers then told the women to rate each man according to their attractiveness and the men with heavy stubble were the ones deemed attractive.
In the abstract of the study, the researchers concluded by saying “Our findings confirm that beardedness affects judgments of male socio-sexual attributes and suggest that an intermediate level of beardedness is most attractive while full-bearded men may be perceived as better fathers who could protect and invest in offspring.”
