WHEN SHOULD YOU END YOUR RELATIONSHIP?

It’s hard to imagine breaking up with your partner especially when you are truly in love with your partner but the unfortunate truth many fail to accept is that not all relationships are built to last. Dating is about finding out if two people have the qualities and compatibility to be together and are you really supposed to remain in that relationship when those qualities aren’t present?

To sustain a healthy relationship, qualities like honesty, communication, and common goals are needed.

Just because you care about someone doesn’t mean you should stick with them even when there are valid signs being in that relationship isn’t worth it.

Here are signs that show it’s time to end your relationship:

1. YOU ARE NOT HAPPY BEING IN THAT RELATIONSHIP

If you are not happy being in that relationship, then being in that relationship isn’t worth it. You are obviously not expected to be happy always but if your relationship makes you unhappy most times, then it’s time to end that relationship.

2. YOU DON’T TRUST YOUR PARTNER

Trust is the foundation of any relationship. You can’t have a healthy relationship without trust. It takes time to build trust and just seconds to break it. If your partner has broken your trust (perhaps even more than once) and you don’t feel like you are ever going to trust him/her again, you should consider ending that relationship.

3. THE COMMUNICATION IS POOR

Communication is also a very important part of a healthy relationship. If the communication in your relationship is poor, the relationship will obviously suffer. If you and your partner have a significantly different level of desire for heartfelt communication and your partner has refused to work on their communication skills over time, then being in that relationship isn’t worth it.

4. DIFFERENT GOALS

If your life goals aren’t in sync with that of your partner, then you should be ending that relationship. Sometimes we fall in love with someone only for us to realize later that our goals for the future are incompatible. Being with someone with incompatible goals is a huge mistake because sooner rather than later, that relationship will come to breaking point and it could end with so much resentment. So why don’t you end it now and save yourself all that?

5. YOU FEEL INSECURE

When you are in a healthy relationship, you should feel better about yourself over time and not worse. If being with your partner makes you doubt yourself and feel insecure, then you shouldn’t be in that relationship. Your partner should celebrate your strengths and not wreck your self-confidence by making you feel inadequate.

6. YOU HAVE FALLEN OUT OF LOVE

I understand you’ll hate to hurt your partner’s feelings by ending the relationship but you are also hurting your partner by being in a relationship with them when it’s obvious you no longer see him or her as the one. It’s important you are honest about your feelings. If you have fallen out of love with your partner and you know you won’t regret ending things, then it’s time for you to end that relationship.
