When seeking for a partner, what traits do men and women look for in a romantic partner? If you think they both look for the same things then you are wrong.
A research led by Norman Li, an associate professor of psychology at Singapore Management University and Oliver Sng, a doctoral psychology student at Arizona State University seem to have found the answer to our question.
The researchers found that men more than women used physical attractiveness when choosing a romantic partner.
While women were less likely to use physical attractiveness when choosing a partner, the researchers observed that social standing matter more to women when choosing a romantic partner.
So while women want men who are at least average in social status, men want women who are at least moderately physically attractive.
The researchers conducted the study using speed dates and online chats wherein participants where later asked to rate their interest in prospective partners.
The study was published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.
