I think dating and relationship are for people who are mature; so the big question now is which age can we start defining as being mature, and like people would say maturity isn’t defined by age but is a thing of the mind.
The government and various bodies deem maturity at the age of 18; at this stage every individual should be able to know what is right and wrong, and everyone has an opinion and belief and should be held accountable for his/her actions.
Puberty age starts at 12-13 years depending on the growth of the individual, as some even start way earlier or even later. At this age, people get curious about the changes or rather development in their body, but this doesn’t mean they are old enough to start dating. This is the age where sex education and other forms of education should start so the child won’t be led astray. This age marks the beginning of sexual curiosity in humans, and adequate care and attention should be given to young ones at this age.
I also don’t think dating should start at a much older age because you might just seem to be too old to be a novice. Dating at a much older age would make you so clueless about relationships, and you might as well not know how to open up to love and being loved in return at this age.
To me, in as much as dating early could be a disadvantage, dating late would be a disadvantage as well. Dating brings exposure, and exposure brings maturity and relationships need both to excel. With dating, you get to know more about people and what is needed to make a relationship really work.
I belong to the old fashioned group of men that believe dating should start by 18 years of age, sighting maturity and accountability as my major reasons.
