One thing I’ve noticed about guys is that they get scared when it comes to serious relationships. They might be with a lady they like but when it starts getting serious they might tend to fizzle out into thin air.
This always gets me thinking, why would a lady want something serious from you and you shy away from her even when you like her? I’m not sure there is a better contradiction than this; it’s alarming, surprising not the least.
I’m also a victim of this, as a matter of fact this was a typical me in my university days and not just me, even my friends had this issue, and not just them, even their friends had this issue; the cycle keeps going on and on; why are guys scared of a serious relationship?
I think I’m well suited to write this piece because of my experience from a personal point of view as well as that of my friends and others that I’m aware of.
I would bring you 6 real reasons why guys are scared of relationships, and I think you should ask any guy out there; if he’s honest enough, he would tell you I’m right.
1. GUYS SEE IT AS BONDAGE
This is one major reason why guys are scared of a serious relationship; they see it as bondage. When you are just having flings with other ladies, you’re a free man, you’re not responsible for anyone, it’s just you and you alone. But when you have a serious affair, it’s more like a cage, you have someone to checkmate your every activity, and you can’t do the things you used to do anymore.
Come on guys, come off it, that’s a sign of immaturity; you need to grow up.
2. HEART BREAK
A lot of guys are scared of all the emotional blisters that come with relationships. Relationships and love could be emotionally stressful at times and it’s just so huge a risk to take; I felt this way at a time; at a point you just decide it’s best to keep it safe. Take a stroll back to our secondary school days, love wasn’t hard to admit, so many guys loved this special girl in their class; guys wrote love letters a whole lot; so how come the whole scene changed in the university? It’s simple; the fear of being hurt is a major factor.
Guys, you ought to know that every great achievement in this life has a percentage of risk in it, love isn’t any different. Taking that safe option might really be an act of cowardice.
3. CHEATING NATURE OF GUYS
Guys have this cheating nature that is as high as a mountain, it just seems like sticking to one girl is an impossibility; it’s more like they can’t get enough, so they take the shorter route by being a jack of all girls but master of none.
I have just one question for all guys; where have that gotten you?
4. HUGE RESPONSIBILITY
Relationships come with responsibilities, and most guys get scared of the load and burden that comes with relationships. Sticking to just one lady is a huge responsibility on its own and showing her that you care is another responsibility, so guys shy away from relationships for this cause.
So tell me guys, when would you be responsible for something or someone?
5. TRUST ISSUES
Trust issue is a common one; guys always have this issue of trusting a lady. It’s really not easy having trust in a lady, most guys find this so difficult; so for this reason, they choose to back out of being in a serious relationship.
6. WOMEN ISSUES
Sometimes, it’s not even about the love or feelings not being there, it’s more about the lady. Some ladies have issues, and it’s sometimes frustrating and it can scare the hell out of a guy. Jealousy, complains and all manner of things can even scare the most innocent of guys.
I think all guys should know this; there is nothing to be scared of in a serious relationship with a lady that’s also crazy about you. I’ve lost so many important women in my life due to my act of cowardice back in the days but I think I’m wiser now, and I urge you all to follow suit.
