If you are a man that drinks too much coffee, then I think you should read this. According to a study, drinking too much coffee can radically reduce a man’s ability to father children.
The study was carried out by researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston and the researchers believe caffeine may harm sperm at a molecular level.
The study looked at 105 men whose wives or girlfriends were undergoing IVF at Massachusetts General Hospital between 2007 and 2013. The average age of the men in the study was 37.
According to the study, men who drank two or more cups of strong coffee a day had just one in five chance of becoming fathers through IVF while those who drank less than a cup had their chances increase by nearly 52 per cent.
“High male caffeine consumption appears to reduce couples’ chances of achieving clinical pregnancy” lead author Dr Anatte Karman, an obstetrician, Massachusetts General Hospital said.
Dr Anaette Karman advised men should keep a healthy lifestyle if they were hoping to become fathers.
