man in the kitchen cooking

If you’ve followed this site for long enough, then, I’m sure you have seen the kitchen tips we dished out to you. And if you thought those were amazing and helpful, wait till you have seen these ones…

1. If you use aluminium pans that are old and not so great to look at, all you got to do to make them look better is just boil apple peels in them. That would leave them looking much brighter.

2. Slicing an onion sometimes can be annoying — the tears and all. Well, you can change that, all you got to do is refrigerate the onion for 5 mins after peeling off the outer coating.

3. Is your salt getting lumpy? Drop a few grains of rice in it to absorb the moisture.

4. It’s a good idea to have an aloe vera plant in your kitchen. They’re helpful for healing in case of a burn, scrape or cut.

5. Every woman should have vinegar in her kitchen; it’s helpful for defrosting frozen meat. To do this, just pour some vinegar over the frozen meat.

6.  If you farm, you’ll love this tip. After boiling potatoes or pasta, do not pour the water away, rather use it on your plants. It contains nutrients that are healthy for them.

7. If you store your potatoes in a bag, to prevent them from budding, put an apple in with them.

8. Don’t store your bananas in a bunch or in a fruit bowl with other fruits. Separate your bananas and place each in a different location. Bananas release gases which cause fruits (including other bananas) to ripen quickly. Separating them will keep them fresh longer.

9. If ants are a problem in your kitchen, find where they come out from, and either put jelly on the opening or draw a line of chalk on their passage way, they won’t move over those.

10. To know how fresh your eggs are, put them in about 4 inches of water; fresh eggs don’t float, if they do, then, they’re not so fresh.

11. Before you slice fresh red pepper, rub some vegetable oil on your palms to stop your skin from absorbing all the spiciness.

12. As you store your empty airtight containers, drop a pinch of salt in them to avoid them getting stinky.

13. To clean iron cooking materials, don’t use detergents. Just scrub them with salt and a clean, dry paper towel.

14. Refrigerating items like tomatoes, oranges and lemons would end up degrading the aromas they carry.

15. When boiling eggs, add a pinch of salt to keep the shells from cracking.

16. Finally, in case you you ever happen to over-salt a pot of soup, just drop in a peeled potato. The potato will absorb the excess salt.

Enjoy, and thank me later!
