Everyone wants to have a good sex life, but very few know that lack of quality sleep could also affect the quality of sleep.

According to a poll conducted by the National Sleep Foundation, up to 26% of people say that their sex lives tend to suffer because they’re just too tired.

Also, the 2010 Sleep in America poll found that about 20-30 percent of men and women felt that their sexual life have been affected by their sleeplessness.

Another study also found that not only does a good night’s sleep help ensure you have more energy for sex, but also going to sleep and waking at consistent times can help regulate your hormone levels, and these are the hormones that help boost your mood for sex.

An Australian study conducted by Kerri Melehan, from Sydney’s Royal Prince Alfred Hospital also found that sleep apnoea could affect the quality of your sexual relation. Sleep apnoea is an obstruction in the airway passage of a person which leads to a regular pause in breathing, and it’s a major cause of snoring.

The conditions of sleep apnoea can cause a person to be extremely tired during the day and can lead to a number of health problems, including sexual problems.

The study found that erectile difficulties can be improved with Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) treatment. Men receiving CPAP reported an improvement in their ‘overall sexual satisfaction’ and more erections during their sleep, the study found.

Also, studies suggest that impaired sleep can be associated with lower testosterone levels.
