TAKE COFFEE AND REDUCE THE RISK OF DIABETES

According to scientist, taking more coffee can reduce your chances of having diabetes. The research studied 124, 000 men and women and it also supports previous evidence of this fact. The research was led by Prof Frank Hun from the Harvard School of Public Health in the United States.

According to the research, increasing intake by more than one cup a day was associated with an 11% lower risk of Type 2 diabetes over the next four years. Reducing intake had the opposite effect as it raises your chances of getting diabetes by 17%.

Taking at least three cups of coffee reduces the likelihood of getting Type 2 diabetes by 37% when compared to those that consumed one cup or less.

Meanwhile, Dr Richard Elliot, research communications officer at Diabetes UK has urged people to treat the findings with caution. He said while the study found a connection between taking coffee and risk of Type 2 diabetes, the best way to reduce the risk of the Type 2 diabetes remains maintaining a good weight by eating a healthy, balanced diet and by being regularly physically active.
