Ever wondered why women tend to prefer taller men when choosing a partner? A study has the answer.
According to a Konkuk University in Seoul study, couples with a great height difference were found to have the happiest wives.
The study which was published in the journal, Personality and Individual Differences revealed that the greater the height difference in a couple, the happier the wife was.
The study was based on data from 7,850 women collected from a long-term population survey.
“Although it has been known that women prefer tall men in mating for evolutionary reasons, no study has investigated whether a taller husband makes his wife happier,” said researcher Kitae Sohn from the Konkuk University in Seoul, South Korea.
“A greater height difference in a couple was positively related to the wife’s happiness.”
Sohn noted that women evolved to prefer tall men because they were perceived to be stronger and women naturally are happy when they have what they like.
This happiness due to height difference however doesn’t last forever. According to the researcher, the happiness between height and happiness gradually weakened over time and entirely dissipated by 18 years of marital duration.
