There seems to be a wedding for us to attend every weekend. Someone we know (family, close friends, friends from afar and those who think we are friends) gets married every weekend. I am certain someone somewhere has a wedding to attend this weekend but just before you do, there are some style dos and don’ts you should note
1. NEVER WEAR WHITE TO A WEDDING
So many wedding guests have broken this very old and simple rule. The white colour in a wedding is exclusive for the bride so it’s a colour every wedding guest should avoid. It’s one of the most important days in the life of the bride and the bride needs to stand out from the crowd. Avoid wearing whites or any variation of whites to a wedding. It’s not your wedding so keep those whites gowns you have in your closet.
2. THINK FLORAL PRINTS
Weddings are all about romance and love so you should go for a romantic look when attending a wedding. Floral prints are perfect for weddings. So go for floral prints when attending a wedding.
3. DON’T WEAR REVEALING CLOTHES
A wedding is no place to look all sexy; please avoid the sexy look when attending a wedding. Avoid wearing anything overly sexy or revealing and a wedding isn’t the place for your bra straps and pants to be seen. The attention should be on the bride and her gorgeous gown and not on your pants or butts.
4. THE LITTLE BLACK DRESS IS A YES
If you are confused about what to wear, go for the little black dress that flatters your figure but you should also note that a head-to-toe black isn’t a good idea for a wedding (the head-to-toe black should be reserved for funerals). Don’t forget to accessorise.
5. AVOID WEARING JEANS AND A TEE
I believe everyone already knows this by now but for those that don’t, please a wedding isn’t an event to wear jeans and a tee. There is no reason good enough for wearing jeans and a tee and please don’t give me the “I love being casual” statement.
6. WEAR SHOES YOU ARE COMFORTABLE IN
I hate to attend weddings and see ladies struggle with their heels. I advise you wear something you are comfortable in. Just because I said you should wear something you are comfortable in is no reason to pick up just any shoe; go for something comfortable and stylish too. Weddings involve lots of dancing, walking around and standing so mid-height heels, dressy sandals, wedges, and even chic ballet flats are all good options for a wedding.
