1. CANNED FOOD
Canned foods are a huge source of BPA. BPA is short for Bisphenol A; a carbon-based synthetic compound used to make plastics and various consumer goods; it’s also used as coatings on the inside food cans and beverage cans. BPA has been found to be a health hazard, and worse still, it’s dangerous for a man’s sperm health. It has been linked with low sperm count and various fertility issues.
A study carried out by a team of University of Michigan researchers found that men who are exposed to large quantities of BPA have sperm counts about 23% lower than men with no BPA exposure.
2. BEER AND ALCOHOL
While we discussed the health benefits of beer, we overemphasized that it should be taken in moderation as it poses certain health dangers, and an unhealthy sperm is one of them. Excessive alcohol intake lowers testosterone levels, which could lead to poor sperm quality and production.
Also, excessive alcohol intake deplete vitamins and mineral in the body, which are essentials for a healthy sperm.
3. EXCESSIVE CAFFEINE INTAKE
Excessive intake of caffeine related drinks could also lead to an unhealthy sperm; it has been linked with lots of sperm problems. A Danish study even found that men who drink a quart of cola daily have sperm counts almost 30% lower than men who don’t drink cola.
4. JUNK FOODS
While junk foods come in handy, they also pose certain health risks – sperm related risks included. Junk foods have quite a high presence of Trans Fatty acid, and according to a study by a team of hazard researchers; men with high concentration of Trans Fatty acids in their semen have 96% fewer sperm than men with low concentration of Trans Fatty acids in their semen.
5. PROCESSED MEAT
A study carried out by Harvard researchers found that eating processed meat can cause significant damage to a man’s sperm health. According to findings from the study, men who ate half a portion of processed meat per day had 5.5% normal shaped sperm cells, whereas men who ate less of it had their sperm shape at 7.2% normal.
6. SOY
Well, even soy has its own significant sperm health risk. A 2008 Harvard research found that even half a serving of soy daily was enough to pose serious health risk to a man’s sperm production.
