MARRIAGE CAN CAUSE DEPRESSION

Psychologists in the US has found that being nagged or criticized or feeling down by your other half are just some of the triggers for dissatisfaction with marriage. Hope the ladies are reading this cos they just know how to nag, my girlfriend inclusive (hope she doesn’t see this line or I am dead). LOL.

Even though marriage can help keep us happy, healthy and make us live long, the study also found it can lead to a state of depression. So it’s basically up to us to turn our marriage into what it should be.

The report also states those who suffer long-term stress within a relationship are more likely to enjoy the positive aspects of being married. So guys should try as much as they can to not put their partner under too much stress. The fights, the shouts and other things that can trigger this should be avoided. Come on guys, we can love our women better. Let’s make them smile all the time and remove the frowns from their face.

The long-term study looked at couples after 11 years of marriage and measured how often they frowned. Richard Davidson, professor of psychology and psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, said its findings shed light on what made some people more vulnerable.

“This is not an obvious consequence of marital stress, but it’s one I think is extraordinarily important,” he said.  “This is the signature of an emotional style that reveals vulnerability to depression.”

So ladies, try to reduce the nagging in your relationship and guys love your woman better. The report basically doesn’t say marriage causes depression but it says marriage can cause it. That means if well handled, our marriage won’t lead us to depression.

Let’s get married to people we are happy with; rushing into it is never the wise thing to do. I see people rushing into marriages these days cos their friends are all married. Take your time and find the right person so you don’t end up depressed in your marriage.

Have a wonderful married life.
