LOSING WEIGHT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE, SCIENTISTS CLAIM

obese

British researchers have warned about the consequences of putting on weight as people who put on weight very rarely lose them.

Study author Dr Alison Fildes believes once an adult becomes obese, it is very unlikely they would return to a healthy body weight.

Just one in every 210 obese men and one in 124 obese women actually manage to achieve a healthy body weight.

Dr Fildes and her team tracked the fluctuating weight of nearly 280,000 British men and women between 2004 and 2014.

Dr Fildes believes preventing oneself from being obese is key because the chances of achieving a healthy body weight after getting obese is slim.

The study which was published in the American Journal of Public Health suggests that even when someone does manage to shed weight, they are very unlikely to keep it off.
