IS THERE ANYTHING AS SAYING “I LOVE YOU” TOO SOON?

Hello and welcome to another wonderful edition of our Elcrema Sunday Love Special; a forum where matters of the heart are discussed.

Relationships don’t start in a day; it’s a gradual process. You might meet someone of the opposite sex and get attracted to that person; is it okay to tell that person how you feel so soon? That’s what we’d be trashing on Elcrema Sunday Love Special, today.

Drama and Shawn will share their opinions on this subject with us.

Is it ever too early to tell someone ‘I love you’? Well, it depends on who and the type of love you mean. Of course, it’s never too early to tell your family you love them or your close buddy, life’s too short, you know. Haha ok, I’m kidding.

Let’s talk about this for real though. I honestly think it depends on the chemistry. How strong is it, and how quickly has it grown? If it’s pretty strong, then trust me, I don’t think it could ever be ‘too early’ to tell someone you love them. Sometimes, you take too long to say it, and you could end up losing the person because they’d think you’re not that much into them after all.

In the same vein, if the chemistry is still not strong enough, and the friendship still feels new, then, perhaps, you’ll have to press pause until it is. You may ask, ‘how do I know when the timing isn’t right?’ Well, you never really know, you just watch the body language. Are they comfortable with you? Do they seem into you as much as you are? How often do they want to hear from you? You put these into consideration, and if all boxes are ticked, then, I think you can say those words.

Of course, there’s such a thing as telling someone you love them so soon, and people tend to make this mistake every day of their lives.

There can be some scenarios where you can tell someone you feel something for them not too long after getting to know them. Some attractions are instant, and when the feeling of attraction is mutual, it’s okay to reveal how you feel. Other than that, it’s very wrong to rush into telling someone about love just after meeting them.

These are three reasons you shouldn’t say “I love you” too soon:

1. Saying “I love you” too soon might seem unbelievable at times. When quickly said, it might lose its meaning and that person wouldn’t believe you and might choose to stay away from you.

2. Action speak louder than words. We easily believe what we can see than what we are being told. Before you start saying how you feel, show it first with your action — that’s what makes it believable.

3. Let that person warm up to you first. Love becomes reciprocal when two people feel the same way. But when it’s just one person feeling it, then it won’t be reciprocated. So take your time and show that person how you feel before you say how you feel. Let the person warm up to you first, and then it’ll be easier for the person to accept you.

Never make the mistake of saying “I love you” too soon.

That’s our take today on Elcrema Sunday Love Special.
