Mankind has never been more concerned about their weight as this generation. How do I lose weight seems to be a very common question these days.
A study by a research team from the Cornell Food & Brand Lab seems to have found the perfect way to lose weight.
To arrive at their conclusion, they recruited 147 people — 118 female — and tried to find out characteristics and behaviours of people with a healthy weight, who also don’t struggle with weight problems by asking them questions about their breakfast patterns. The main question they wanted answered was, “On an average day, what would you have for breakfast?”
The researchers found that 51% of slim people preferred having fruits for breakfast, closely followed by 41% that mostly had dairy for breakfast with 33% going for cold cereal or granola. Only 4 percent of people responded by saying they skipped breakfast altogether.
The researchers also found that majority of slim people were physically active one to three days a week and nearly half of the participants said they never dieted.
When it came to the type of food slim people consumed, the researchers also observed that slim people had a number of different preferences. A majority considered chicken to be their favourite meat, while only 7 percent called themselves vegetarians. Thirty-five percent said they didn’t drink soft drinks, and 19 percent didn’t drink alcohol.
Anna-Leena Vuorinen, lead author said: “One important takeaway from this study is that a very high rate of slim people actually eat breakfast instead of skipping, which is consistent with previous research on the importance of breakfast.
“But what stands out is that they not only ate breakfast, but that they ate healthful foods like fruits and vegetables. Also, egg consumption was higher than we expected.”
Even though this study might not be incredibly beneficial to those who are trying to lose weight, the author believes that doing what slim people do is important if you want to lose weight.
