So ladies, if you want a man’s attention you should ditch the flat and wear high heels instead. According to a study from France, high heels do a better job at helping women get what they want from men.
Dr. Nicolas Guéguen, a psychologist at the Université de Bretagne-Sud in Rennes is the scientist behind the study and he made the following statements about his study
“Women’s shoe heel size exerts a powerful effect on men’s behaviour.”
For the study, Guéguen asked four female confederates to wear flats or two- or four-inch heels and made note of their interactions with unfamiliar men and the results would amaze you.
In one experiment, Guéguen asked the women to stand on the street and ask passers-by to complete a survey.
25 out of 60 men (42 percent) agreed to pause and take the survey when the women wore flats, 36 of 60 men (60 percent) agreed to take the survey when the women wore two-inch heels and the number rose to 49 out of 60 men (82 percent) when the women wore the four-inchers. The heels seemed to have no effect on female passers-by as around a third stopped to complete the survey no matter how high the confederates’ heels were.
In another experiment, the ladies were asked to drop a glove on the street and note whether men retrieved it for them and the same pattern repeated itself again. 62 percent of time, men picked when they wore flats but an amazing 93 percent picked when the ladies wore heels.
Guéguen explained why heels had such effect on men – heels simply make women more attractive to men.
“The over-association of high heels with women’s sexiness and sexual content could lead men to misinterpret the sexual intent of women with high heels,” Guéguen wrote in a paper describing his research, which was published in the journal Archives of Sexual Behavior.
