GOOD-LOOKING MEN ARE LESS LIKELY TO SUCCEED IN JOB INTERVIEWS, STUDY CLAIMS

If you are a good-looking man and you are struggling to get a job, maybe you just need to read this study by researchers from the University of Maryland.

According to assistant professor Marko Pitesa, interviewers see good-looking men as intimidating and a threat to their job.

When the good-looking interviewee isn’t seen as a threat due to the interviewer being told that the interviewee would be working alongside them, the interviewers favour them.

During the study, 241 adults were asked to evaluate fictional job candidates based on fake qualifications and experience with men assessing men and women assessing women.

A second experiment involved 92 people, who were asked to evaluate competitors or partners in a quiz game while another experiment had women judge men and men judge women.

The result from the test proved that people opted to work with attractive men but compete against unattractive men.
