GOING TO COLLEGE? 5 THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU LEVEL UP

The university or college is a whole different ball game from high school. A lot of young people go into that level of education with the same thinking they had during their high school days, and then, they are hit by reality. Failures and setbacks are part of the consequences of going into something ignorantly. You got to prepare yourself and your mind.

Don’t get it wrong, college is very fun, but you have got to know the following…

IT’S WAY BIGGER THAN WHERE YOU’RE COMING FROM

High school has a decent number of people in it, but that’s probably not even up to a third of the population you’ll meet in a typical university setting. What that means is that there are probably way more intelligent and smart people than you are, so things may not be as simple as they were. You got to work harder, and be less hard on yourself.

EMBRACE EVERYONE

A university is a place that brings together people from different cultures, races, colors, backgrounds, etc. You have to be ready to embrace and live with everyone. Learn from those you can, it doesn’t hurt to coexist.

YOU’RE GOING TO BECOME YOUR OWN MAN

You’re going to be all by yourself, unless your parents decide otherwise, so you’ll be the one making every/or most decisions for yourself. It’s exciting, but also dangerous, because you can easily make the wrong one.

YOU’RE GOING THERE FOR A REASON

Oftentimes, people get into college, and after a few months or a year, they forget the reason they got there in the first place. You’re going to study to enhance your life and make your family and friends proud. You cannot mess that up. Stick with your purpose.

REMEMBER HOME, BUT TRAVEL VISIT WISELY

Of course, you have to remember you have a family that care about you, and visit them now and then. However, you cannot do random visits. Tests and quizzes can happen when you least expect them to, so you must be ready always. If you’re traveling, it’s got to be only on holidays.
