Kudos to all the long-distance couples around the world for making your relationship work and for all those who don’t believe in long-distance relationships, maybe this research will make you believe that indeed a long-distance relationship can work.
A Queen’s University study has found that long-distance relationships can be equally, if not more satisfying than a relationship between people who live close.
The study also found that couples who are in a long-distance relationship are more likely to communicate about their thoughts and feelings, which leads to better emotional intimacy.
The study was carried out by Emma Dargie, a PhD student in clinical psychology at Queen’s University.
474 women and 243 men in long-distance relationships were used for the study. They answered questions about the intimacy, commitment, communication and sexual satisfaction.
Dargie also included 314 women and 111 men who lived close to their partner in her study too and they also answered the same questions.
So to all those having a wonderful long-distance relationship, always know you have a better intimacy in your relationship.
