It’s surprising how when sex is mentioned, we tend to forget the elderly ones, as if they have lost their natural desire for sex or if it’s too weird for them to still be sexually active.
A previous British study found that age isn’t a barrier in having a sexually active life. It even went on to find that more than half of men and women in their 70s are still active sexually. And a study by Dutch researchers goes on to elaborate how satisfaction in your love life even in your 60s or 70s can make the mind and brain sharper.
The researchers studied 1,700 Dutch men and women within the age 58 to 98 about their sex life and their need for intimacy.
They were put through a series of mental tests which were aimed at assessing everything from memory to the ability to think abstractly.
Two thirds of the respondents revealed that they had a partner and still needed intimacy; while those who were satisfied with their sex life and said that sexuality was important did better on the tests – women especially.
