9 WAYS YOU LET TECHNOLOGY RUIN YOUR RELATIONSHIP/MARRIAGE

social media relationship

Technology has made our lives easier, better and even more entertaining. Thanks to technology, everything we need is just at our finger tip. Even in our relationships, technology has helped improve communication and also information; the benefit technology brings is numerous. However, if you aren’t careful, technology could also ruin your marriage/relationship. Smartphone, television, social media and lots more of the 21st century things we are involved in can have negative impact on your relationship. I’d explain.

1. DURING DATES

Couples no longer enjoy that 100% attention to each other during dates anymore; phones and social media have taken over the show. It’s rare to see couples who go on dates and enjoy their time together without touching their phones.

2. SOCIAL MEDIA TAKES THE SHINE OFF THE RELATIONSHIP

In many relationships, partners only live their lives on social media and forget about the real relationship with each other. The desire to put a good show on social media has taken away the shine of being with each other and enjoying time with each other.

3. REDUCED TIME AND ATTENTION

Televisions, games and smartphones have also ensured couples spend lesser time with each other. Partners spend a lot of individual time on these things than on each other, and in a way they reduce the time spent with each other.

4. QUALITY TIME IS NO LONGER QUALITY

Phones, television shows, social media and other gadgets have in a way cut short quality time couples spend with each other. It’s rare to find couples who spend quality time with each other without the distractions of these aforementioned things. In one way or the other, these items cut short the quality time couples would originally enjoy with each other.

5. COMMUNICATION

While one could say technology has improved communication between partners, it has also distorted communication in a way. Couples talk lesser and lesser these days, due to the influence of texting and chatting; these two have taken away the traditional phone calls that we were once used to.

6. LIES

Technology has made it easy to tell a lie or two or to be deceitful or cover up certain things. People tell their partners those white little lies these days and technology has made it so easy.

7. IT HAS INCREASED FLIRTING AND CHEATING

A cheating partner will always be a cheating partner, but social media has increased flirting and cheating. There is just so much temptation on social media, and it has destroyed many homes.

8. DISTRUST

Trust is an important element in every successful relationship; when it’s missing, then the relationship will be in trouble. However, phones and social media have made cheating easier and in turn increased distrust among couples. Technology has made trust much more difficult.

9. SLEEP PATTERNS

Technology has also changed the sleep patterns of many people. There was a time when people went to bed by 9pm, but that’s rare these days. There are so many things to do with your phones these days, there’s so many things happening on social media, people even work on their computers till late night. This will not only lessen the time you spend with your partner, it’ll also distort your sleep pattern. Insomnia, sleep deprivation, stress and anxiety might just be the result.

Technology has ruined relationships and marriages, and these are just some examples.
