8 TIPS TO STOP GETTING ANGRY OVER THE LITTLE THINGS IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP

COVER

We all know that one couple who would fight because of a pot of food, the toilet seat, the toothpaste and so many little things would easily cause a huge fight.

In many relationships and marriages today, a singular cause of the havoc going on is the inability to handle those little things, and if you don’t handle the little things properly in your relationship, they would definitely handle the relationship themselves.

Couples argue and fight over little and unimportant things all the time, and this is very unhealthy for your relationship. These tips would help you handle those situations better.

1. IS IT REALLY A HUGE ISSUE?

First consider if the problem is really a huge issue. If couples can ask themselves this question a lot of the times before having a fight over that little thing, they would fight less. Most times that thing might be so unimportant but the heat of the moment could make it so important and things would escalate from then on.

2. DON’T FOCUS ON YOUR ANGRY FEELING

Do you know why you boil over most of the times because of that little thing? It’s because you think a lot about it, and when you do this, a situation that was so little would turn into a tug of war. Put your mind to good use; stop thinking about the angry feeling — think about something positive instead, and you would handle the situation better.

3. TALK ABOUT IT WITH YOUR PARTNER

If it bothers you so much, then talk about it with your partner. When you want to talk about things that bother you in your relationship, look for a good time to do that, not when your partner is probably busy, tired, emotional or in a bad mood. When you are both in good moods, communicating would be much easier.

4. JUST LISTEN

Sometimes just listen to what your partner has to say and you would gain a thing or two which would help you make better judgements.

5. START ON A SOFT STANCE

Even if you feel your partner is wrong and you are right, you should learn to approach the matter on a soft stance. When you flare up and approach your partner aggressively, your partner would likely do so, and your relationship would suffer for this.

6. BE PATIENT

You should learn to be patient with your partner; nobody was born a perfect human being. Even if you want your partner to change from a certain act, be patient about it and be calm in your approach; this would solve things better than the harsh and aggressive approach.

7. BE TOLERABLE

Tolerance is a key word if you want a peaceful and healthy relationship; a major reason couples shout and argue over little things is because of a lack of tolerance.

8. COLLABORATE ON A SOLUTION

Look for a solution together with your partner; collaborate on the issue together without letting anger cloud your feelings and emotion. You should remember that you are a team and not at war with each other.

A lot of couples have lost beautiful relationships and marriages because they didn’t handle the little things in their relationships well. These little things are like termites that can destroy a whole building; do not give it a chance.
