8 REASONS GAMBLING SHOULD NEVER BE SEEN AS A MEANS OF MAKING MONEY

Men gambling

Gambling to many is seen as a means of getting quick money; the guys at the bar would call it ‘sure money’. But is this really true? Can gambling be really seen as a sure way of making money or even as a means of making money? Never!

If anything, gambling only enriches the casino owners, the betting sites owners at the expense of the gamblers.

‘You probably don’t know to play’ they might say; but even the greatest of gamblers can lose it all in a minute.

I’d share 6 reasons you shouldn’t give in to gambling.

1. ADDICTIVE

This is one of the biggest dangers of gambling – you can become so addicted to it, and one can even say that gambling addiction is almost as dangerous as being addicted to cocaine and heroin. Your finances, your family and everything that matters to you are in danger. With gambling, you lose control of yourself, and that is very bad in every aspect.

2. YOU COULD LOSE ALL YOU GOT

In gambling, it’s easier to lose than to win — that’s why it’s called gambling anyways. Any business that comes with risks twice as great as losing money than making profit is seen as dangerous and avoided by investors. Gambling is in every bit of the word a poor financial investment of time and money.

3. ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION

This is also another danger that’s always associated with gambling. Losing your money is not fun at all, and when this happens, you’re prone to suffering from depression and anxiety — and they’re never good for your health. This can lead to stress induced sickness such as migraines, intestinal disorder, lack of sleep etc which will damage your overall well-being.

4. ISOLATION

Gambling addiction can cause one to have serious emotional problems like isolation, and this can ruin your relationship with the people who matter most to you.

5. RISK OF SUICIDE

Anxiety and depression alone increases the risk of one committing suicide, and when combined with losing everything you have, suicide becomes a viable option to the depressed gambler. A lot of people have committed suicide after losing precious items.

6. RISK OF RUNNING INTO DEBTS

Gambling is a devil in disguise; with gambling, even when you’re losing, you believe that you would win. It doesn’t end there; even after losing everything, you are still motivated to borrow money believing you would recover your money lost, which doesn’t happen most of the times.  With gambling, money that should be spent on investments and savings or that should be channeled to something important is lost for no reason, leaving you with massive debts instead.

7. FAMILY TROUBLES

Your family woes are compounded when you’re addicted to gambling. You leave a negative impact on your children, lack of money would be a constant, and it can even make you to act violently even if you’re ordinarily a gentle person.

8. YOU CAN’T STOP

This is probably the biggest problem associated with betting — it’s highly addictive and you just can’t stop even if you want to. You always feel the need to bet more, and attempts aimed at stopping are almost always futile. Gambling addiction is one that’s easy to associate with and extremely hard to stop.

Gambling can never be a good financial investment; it’s probably a smart way of tricking yourself into losing money.
