1. LAYBY
“Layby” refers to someone who is in a relationship but is seeking for a way out. A person who is a “layby” isn’t comfortable being single so he/she would remain in their current relationship until they find another relationship. So while in their current relationship, a layby will start seeking for a new partner.
2. CATCH AND RELEASE
“Catch and release” is a phrase used to describe the act where people enjoy the “chase” part of a relationship but walk away once the object of their desire has been “caught”. People who practice “catch and release” hate being in a committed relationship.
3. BREADCRUMBING
Just like “catch and release”, people who practice “breadcrumbing” hate being in a committed relationship. “Breadcrumbing” refers to the act of leading someone on with a trail of flirtatious messages but never following through.
4. SNACK PACK
The “snack pack” refers to the bag a man or woman brings when they spend the night at someone else’s place. Items found in a “snack pack” include toothbrush, phone charger, spare pair of underwear, condoms, birth control pills or other contraception.
5. BENCHING
Benching refers to the act of having someone else as a substitute to their current partner because one isn’t sure of their future with their current partner. The substitute might come into play if anything goes wrong with their current partner.
6. SLOW FADE
The “slow fade” refers to the move used by daters looking to cut ties with their partner without the drama of a breakup or decency of a proper conversation. During the “slow fade”, people slowly reduce the amount of communication before it eventually comes to a halt.
7. GHOSTING
“Ghosting” is similar to “slow fade” but far more brutal. “Ghosting” refers to the act where a partner simply disappears from his/her partner’s life by completely cutting off all contact without warning or explanation.
8. ZOMBIE-ING
“Zombie-ing” refers to the process whereby someone who “ghosted” a partner tries to come back into the life of an ex-partner. They are like a zombie coming back from the dead. When someone is trying to do a “zombie-ing”, they usually start by sending messages like “Hi, how’s it going” via SMS or Whatsapp.
