Almost every woman experiences mood swings; a situation where you could be happy this minute and you’re sad the next minute, even when no one did anything to make you feel unhappy.
Men often get angered by a woman’s mood swings and don’t understand why they switch moods at will. Even women too can’t say why they experience mood swings.
Mood swings are usually as a result of emotional, behavioural and hormonal experiences. Below are some reasons women experience mood swings.
1. LACK OF SLEEP
Women who don’t get enough rest tend to be irritable and this affects their mood a lot, as they find it difficult to deal with their daily activities and become easily irritated by things that shouldn’t even bother them.
2. STRESS AND FATIGUE
Mood swing is another common way women respond to stress and fatigue. Stress could overwhelm a woman and make her act in ways she wouldn’t act ordinarily.
3. HER WORRIES
When a woman is worried over a certain situation, her mind will be easily carried away and could get a mood swing even though she was happy just a while ago.
4. PMS
When a woman reaches that time of the month when she’s on her flow, it’s usually marked by constant mood swings, and this is hormonal. During that time of the month, women experience changes in their estrogen levels which will affect the serotonin and dopamine levels — two hormones that help lighten our mood. The effects of the menstrual only makes matter worse.
5. PREGNANCY
Pregnancy and mood swings really go hand in hand. This is because a woman’s estrogen levels go through certain changes and fluctuations, plus the emotional state/stress they are in only adds to the mood swing.
6. SHE REMEMBERED THE PAST
Researchers say a woman uses both sides of her brain and that a woman’s brain remembers a lot more than the man’s. I don’t know how true that is, but women tend to remember a lot of things and their memories keep going back and forth like a pendulum; this is dangerous because, while one memory might make her smile, the next one might do the opposite.
7. DRUG ABUSE
People who abuse drugs and are addicted to alcohol and hard drugs might experience mood swings unexpectedly.
8. IT MIGHT BE THE MAN
Sometimes, a woman’s mood swing is because of what a man did and what he didn’t do. Broken promises, something he said, something he ought to have done, something he forgot — the list is endless.
Women experience mood swings a lot, and these are the major reasons why.
