No one loves to have a wrinkled face; everyone wants a spotless, clear face without freckles, fine lines and wrinkles.

Although wrinkles might be a natural part of the ageing process, some habits can quicken the development of wrinkles and worsen it.

These are some of those habits that can cause wrinkles.

1. YOUR SMART PHONE

Your phone can cause you to have wrinkles. Your smart phone can lead you to keep your face in certain angles that would lead to the development of wrinkles. Also, using your phone till late in the night can affect your sleep, leading to the development of wrinkles over time.

2. CHEWING GUM

There are many chewing gum lovers and unfortunately for them, chewing gum can also cause wrinkles. Frequent chewing gum stresses the skin around your mouth and makes your mouth form different shapes which can lead to wrinkles and fine lines.

3. YOUR SLEEP POSITION

Sleeping by the side or with your face down can also cause wrinkles. Sleeping on your side or with your face down puts unnecessary pressure on your face. Sleeping on your back is the best position for your face and skin.

4. LACK OF SLEEP

People know that lack of sleep can affect their immune system, mental function, lead to depression and many other health risks, but a lack of sleep can also lead to wrinkles and sallow skin.

5. TOO MUCH EXPOSURE TO SUN

The sun’s ultraviolet rays aren’t your friend and exposing your skin to it can cause wrinkles.

According to a 2013 study, the sun’s UV rays accounts for 80% of skin ageing, including wrinkles in women.

6. SMOKING

According to a research published in the journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, cigarette smoking restricts blood flow to your skin, making it difficult for your skin to get the needed oxygen and nutrients required for a healthy skin. The chemicals in cigarette can also break down the skin’s fibre and elastin.

7. JUNK FOOD AND EXCESSIVE SUGAR CONSUMPTION

Junk foods and excessive sugar consumption can cause healthy proteins in the skin to be malformed and stiffen. This can lead to the appearance of wrinkles and a loss of facial elasticity.

8. NOT WASHING OFF YOUR MAKEUP

It’s important for every woman to wash the makeup off her face at the end of day. Not doing this wouldn’t only lead to clogged pores, but also leave trapped dirt and bacteria on the face, thereby quickening the ageing process.

 

While wrinkles are a natural part of ageing, these habits would only quicken its appearance.
