The nervousness that follows an interview is usually very high, but how you comport yourself is an important tip that could make you land that job.

One thing many interviewers hope to see in a prospective employee is confidence. Confidence hides your flaws and makes you sound smarter and look more intelligent.

The following tips would make you sound more confident in your interview.

1. BE AUDIBLE

Nervousness can make one talk in hushed voices and sound very low. When you sound this way, it’s an automatic sign of low confidence. Be audible, make sure your interviewer hears your every word; you sound more believable when you are heard.

2. BE STEADY

Being audible is one thing, but you should also aim to talk steadily. Nervousness makes a lot of people talk too fast and this isn’t good. You sound more confident when you talk steadily; as far as you are audible and steady then your interviewer would definitely find you interesting.

3. BE COMFORTABLE WITH YOUR DRESSING

You have to be extra comfortable in your dress or your interview might be affected. If you are adjusting your tie every five seconds or shifting from side to side then that’s a definite fail. Be comfortable, believe that you are looking awesome; you look more confident when you are comfortable with yourself.

4. YOUR BODY LANGUAGE

It’s good not to enter the interview hall feeling cocky, but it’s worse when your body language sends signals of being intimidated. Practice power postures; slouching would definitely kick you out of the job. The way you walk, sit and express yourself is very important.

5. HAVE A SMILING FACE

A smiling face is definitely much more attractive than a frowned face. With a smiling face, you look more confident, more attractive and less nervous.

However, it’s important not to smile excessively. The trick is finding the balance.

6. BE UPBEAT

It’s important to leave your nervous self at home or at least before you enter the building. Listen to an upbeat music, do something exciting, help a stranger, give to a beggar, listen to a comedy skit etc. These would leave you feeling more confident and kick away certain nervous acts like stamping your feet, biting your nails, tapping your hands against the chair etc.

7. PRACTICE IMPORTANT INTERVIEW QUESTIONS

Just like in a school exam, you are more confident when you prepare for your exams and less confident when you barely know the course.

Practice important questions like “why do you want this job”. This would leave you feeling prepared and build up your confidence too.

Confidence can take you places and nervousness would make you seem incompetent. Practice these tips to build your confidence level for the next interview.
