A big job interview might be the scariest thing one could ever face, as the feeling of nervousness and anxiety can make one feel very uncomfortable for that big job interview.

Confidence is needed to pass the hurdle that comes with every job interview. Without confidence, it would be almost impossible to go far in that job interview.

So how do you boost your confidence?

1. DRESS APPROPRIATELY

Do your research about the company and know how you ought to dress for an interview in that company.

Dressing would add a big boost to your confidence levels. When you know you are well dressed, you have that extra bit of confidence.

2. DO NOT AIM TO IMPRESS YOUR INTERVIEWERS

You might say that the aim of an interview is to impress your interviewers, so why wouldn’t you try to impress them? Aiming to impress your interviewers at all cost may make you look desperate and worse still, it could increase your level of anxiety and nervousness. Rather, aim to have a connection with your interviewers; this would be a better tactic than trying to impress them.

3. PREPARE

A soldier that’s prepared for war has an extra bit of confidence. Practice interview questions and rehearse answers aloud to yourself. While you might not be asked those questions, preparing for the interview sets you in the right frame of mind.

4. DON’T PUNISH YOURSELF WITH CRITICISMS AND NEGATIVE THOUGHTS

Block out negative thoughts before your interview and stop criticising yourself; this would only kill your confidence. Be positive.

5. IMAGINE YOURSELF SUCCEEDING IN THE INTERVIEW

Imagine yourself being successful in the interview; visualise how you want the interview to go, visualise yourself being confident and answering the interview questions confidently. Picture how you want the interview; this would help you think positively and feel relaxed.

6. LEARN TO BREATHE

Practice breathing techniques, this would help you overcome nervousness. Learn to be in control of your breathing, this would help you overcome nervousness and talk clearly.

7. PRACTICE GOOD BODY LANGUAGE

Your body language also matters. Do not present yourself as someone lacking in confidence. Do not slouch or lean back, maintain a good sitting posture and maintain good eye contact with your interviewer.

Confidence is highly needed if you want to be successful in your big job interview, and these tips would help you boost your confidence.
