7 TIPS FOR A BEAUTIFUL NIGHT REST

Having a good sleep at night is very important; it helps our health, it helps our brain and it helps our mind.

Everyone wants to have a good night sleep, but not everyone knows how to, and sometimes we even do things that would hamper our sleep at night without even knowing.

Research has shown that the way we sleep have a big impact on our lifespan; so how then do we get that beautiful night rest?

1. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES MATTER A LOT

The physical activity you do or a lack of it can affect your sleep. Regular physical activities can help promote better sleep, making you to fall asleep faster and deeper. However, physical activities should be avoided few hours before sleeping; you might be too energized to sleep.

2. YOUR ROOM SHOULD BE COMFORTABLE

The quality of your sleep could sometimes be affected by the comfort of your room. A bad mattress would most definitely mean a bad sleep. There are so many things that entail a comfortable room minus the mattress; a good pillow, a dark, cool and quiet room, and a widely spaced bed if you are to sleep with another person. A comfortable room is quite essential in order to have a comfortable sleep—make your sleep as comfortable as possible.

3. MIND YOUR EATING HABITS

What you eat and how you eat it has a determining factor on the quality of your sleep. Taking alcoholic substances or substances that contain caffeine and nicotine few hours before bedtime could have a devastating impact on the quality of your sleep. These substances take hours to wear off and its processes might affect the quality of your sleep.

Also, going to bed either hungry or overfilled can affect your sleep. Late night eating is also not advisable.

4. AVOID LONG DAYTIME NAPS

As the name implies, nap should be short and brief, as it could even affect the quality of your sleep when it becomes too long. Long sleeps during the day could cause you to such struggle with your sleep at night, and when you eventually sleep, it lacks a certain quality. Make your sleep during the day brief except you’re a night worker.

5. MANAGE STRESS

Stress is one factor that affects a good night rest—you just have to find a way of effectively managing your stress if you must have a beautiful sleep at night. Managing stress effectively would free your mind and reduce the burden on your body as well; this is very important if you must sleep well.

6. TVs AND GADGETS SHOULD BE  TURNED OFF

Televisions, phones and other forms of gadgets should be turned off and put away when it’s bed time. Artificial light coming from laptop screens and other electronic gadgets is believed to suppress the sleep-inducing hormone melatonin.

7. FIND SOMETHING RELAXING TO DO INSTEAD OF TOSSING AROUND IN BED

There are times when you might feel restless in bed; instead of tossing around feeling frustrated, do something that would calm your nerves. Get out of bed, make your mind feel relaxed and go back to bed when you are drowsy.

 

We all deserve a beautiful night sleep; its benefits are enormous.
