7 SURPRISING WAYS LOVE MAKES US FEEL

Love is an emotion; a strong feeling or emotion, but it’s one that comes with other emotions; love is never alone.

There are certain ways love make us feel and it’s quite surprising because we wouldn’t even know ordinarily; but thanks to research.

Fasten your seatbelt because this promises to be an exciting one.

1. LOVE MAKES YOU LESS VULNERABLE TO PAIN

Forget all the drugs, hard drugs and steroids, love is the real deal. A Psychology professor at the State University of New York, Dr Arthur Aron once said “It turns out that some areas of the brain activated by feelings of intense love are the same areas that drugs use to reduce pain”. As research has proven, merely holding the hands of someone you love can alleviate physical stress. So, who says only weak men fall in love?

2. IT SYNCS YOUR HEART BEAT WITH YOUR PARTNER’S

I guess you must have heard this quote in songs and weddings “two hearts that beat as one”; well that’s another thing love brings to the table. Studies show that when you are in love, your heart beats just as fast as your partner’s.

3. IT CHANGES YOUR SPEECH PATTERN

Research also suggests that people in love unconsciously mimic the way they talk, and women tend to raise their pitch whenever they are talking to a person they are attracted to.

4. IT CAN MAKE ONE LOSE FOCUS

The power of love is really a strong one. Studies have also shown that people who are passionately in love tend to lose focus when given specific tasks to do that requires much attention. Dr Henk Van Steenbergen, an associate professor at Leiden University, Holland once said in a statement “when you have just become involved in a romantic relationship, you’ll probably find it harder to focus on other things because you spend a large part of your cognitive resources thinking of your beloved”.

5. IT CHANGES THE WAY YOU WALK

When a  man is attracted to a lady, he tends to walk at a slower pace to match hers which is usually quite different from when he’s walking with people he deem to be mere friends.

6. IT MAKES YOUR PUPIL GROW

Studies suggest that pupil dilation correlates with intense emotional states. Studies also reveal that merely looking deep into someone’s eyes can make you fall in love. The eyes really play a huge role in love; one we don’t know much about.

7. LOVE MAKES YOU HIGH

Dr Lucy Brown, a professor of neurology and neuroscience at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine told CNN “You can feel intense elation when you are high in love. You can feel intense elation when you are high on cocaine.” The MRI scan has also revealed that when you are in love, the same neural system in your brain linked to cocaine addiction becomes active.

If you have ever thought that love is a weakling or people in love are weaklings then you need a re-think.
