Like they say “we can never know it all”. However, research upon research has shown that we can at least improve our knowledge time after time. Knowledge is infinite, so also is research.

Today, I bring you various researches that have been carried out over time about various issues bordering about sex.

Remember knowledge is infinite and our brain isn’t an enclosed space. Check them out

1. WOMEN AND MEN HAVE ALMOST THE SAME SEXUAL BEHAVIOUR

Various studies have shown that men and women have varying sexual behaviour; however, a study by an Associate Professor of Psychology in Ohio State University, Terri Fisher revealed that men and women don’t really have varying sexual behaviour as we think because women mostly don’t give honest responses in their research as they tend to respond to mostly what society expects of them.

2. SEX BOOSTS SELF ESTEEM

A research conducted by researchers in the University of Texas published in the Archives of Sexual Behaviour revealed that boosting self-esteem was one of the reasons people have sex.

3. THE COMMERCIAL SEX INDUSTRY IN THE U.S IS WORTH OVER $900M

A research funded by the U.S department of justice focused on the business side of sexual activities. The research focused on street and online sex work, escort services, massage parlours and residential brothel and prostitution in general. This research was carried out in 2007 in eight American cities with each ranging from $39m to $290m and a total of about $974m.

4. SEX IS A FORM OF EXERCISE

While having sex, the last thing that comes to mind is that you are having an exercise, but that’s exactly what you’re doing. Patti Britton, a Los Angeles sexologist revealed that sex is a great form of exercise; it takes work from both physical and psychological perspective to have good sex she says.

5. ALL WOMEN MASTURBATE

A research by Arizona State University researchers published in the Journal of Sex Research revealed that all women masturbate or have masturbated at one point in time. The findings from the research reveal that every woman must have at least masturbated once in their life; however, it may be argued that the research was conducted with just a small sample of 20 women.

6. SEX RELIEVES STRESS

According to a research carried out by Scottish researchers published in the journal Biological Psychology, sex plays a big role in relieving stress and maintaining blood pressure. The research was conducted on 24 women and 22 men; they were then exposed to stressful events and those who had sex responded better.

7. OLDER WOMEN ARE STILL SEXUALLY ACTIVE

There is this general belief that older women barely have sex; well, a research carried out by Thomas (a general medicine fellow in women’s health at the University of Pittsburg Medical Center) has shown otherwise. The research focused on older women between ages 40-65 from a sample of 602 women. The research was carried out in four years; after recording their sexual activities in the first year, 85 percent of the women still remained sexually active four years later.

These seven researches revealed findings that are probably contrary to general belief hence the title 7 SURPRISING RESEARCH ABOUT SEX.
