7 REASONS YOU SHOULDN’T HOLD A GRUDGE

angry woman

People keep grudges and believe it’s okay to hold a grudge, but it’s never okay to hold a grudge. When you hold a grudge, you hold yourself back, and you set yourself from moving forward.

If you’ve been holding grudges before; these reasons should make you stop.

1. YOUR HEART BECOMES HEAVY

Grudges make your heart heavy; when you hold a grudge, you constantly keep someone alive in your head and relive those horrible moments. Your heart will never be free when you do this.

2. YOUR HEART COULD ALSO BECOME AFFECTED

Minus making your heart heavy, holding grudges could literally affect your health. Anger could also affect your physical health. A study published by the American heart association suggests that high levels of anger may increase the risk of coronary heart disease.

3. STRESS

You also stress yourself when you hold a grudge. Grudges will make you relive those past events that hurt you, and this would cause you pain and bitterness in the present, which would increase your physiological stress responses.

4. YOU WASTE MENTAL ENERGY

You kill your energy and waste it on irrelevant matters when you hold a grudge. Holding a grudge would make you think of irrelevant things rather than positive ones. You will waste your mental energy on unimportant matters when you hold a grudge, rather than using your mental energy for something more productive. So you waste your mental energy on things that wouldn’t benefit you, when you keep a grudge.

5. IT WILL WEAR YOU DOWN

Keeping grudges will wear you down over time; you would become a bitter person when you think of those bitter moments, and this could kill all the positive vibes in your body, and wear you down emotionally and psychologically.

6. YOU SLEEP BETTER

You cannot sleep well when you hold a grudge. Holding a grudge is like holding a heavy object; you won’t feel free until you let it out.

A 2005 study even found that people who let go of resentment had better sleep. Wouldn’t you want to have a good sleep?

7. GRUDGES AREN’T EVEN IMPORTANT IN THE FIRST PLACEĀ

It isn’t even important to hold a grudge; holding a grudge would make you think about irrelevant issues that don’t really matter, when you should think about something more productive.

Holding a grudge might be the worst mistake you can ever make. You take yourself backward when you do this.
