7 BENEFITS OF BEING HAPPY

Do you know that being happy comes with tremendous benefits that money can’t buy? A lot of people choose to be unhappy or make unhappy decisions without knowing the importance of happiness.

Happiness would impact your health and other aspects of your life in the following ways:

1. HAPPINESS GIVES YOU THE POSITIVE MINDSET TO PURSUE YOUR DREAMS

A downcast person would hardly have the desire to go after what he wants, and when you lack desire, you can hardly ever reach your desired heights. However, a happy feeling fills your heart with positivity, and when you are positive minded, you believe that anything is within your reach.

Going for what you want starts with being positive, and being happy is what would make you positive.

2. HAPPINESS MAKES YOU HEALTHIER

Various researches have shown that being happy is associated with lots of health benefits. Happy people are even less likely to fall sick to common illnesses like cold and flu.

Also a happy mind helps ease off stress, and the effects of stress can leave devastating impacts on a person’s health.

Another study has even found that merely getting a hug from a loved one can help fight off viruses like flu and common cold.

3. HAPPINESS IS AN ENERGY BOOSTER

Being sad and depressed can make you weak and lazy to do anything. However, you tend to work stronger and better when you are happier; being happy would give you that push to even go the extra mile; whereas sadness is energy draining.

4. HAPPY PEOPLE LIVE LONGER

In a study of older British adults published in the proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, its results showed that older people who reported feeling happiest had a 35% lower risk of dying than those who were least happy.

The researchers found that those who were happy even for a little while were less likely to die over a 5-year period.

5. YOU TEND TO BE MORE CREATIVE AND PRODUCTIVE

People tend to be most creative and productive when they are happy or when they emit positive emotions.

According to a team of economists led by Andrew Oswald of Warwick Business School, there is a clear link between a worker’s happiness and productivity. “We find that human happiness has large and positive casual effects on productivity. Positive emotions appear to invigorate human beings while negative emotions have the opposite effect.” The researchers stated.

6. HAPPY PEOPLE ARE CONTENTED PEOPLE

Unhappy people are discontented with life and have something to always complain about. However, happy people know that there is little or no need to live a life of regrets and envy. Happy people are more contented with life and are less envious of others.

7. HAPPINESS MAKES YOU LIKEABLE

Happy people are more likeable because of their positive attitude and the fact that they are mostly smiling people. Also, happier people are more trustworthy because of the positivity that surrounds them.

These benefits of happiness are benefits that money can’t buy. Make a decision to be happy.
