Do you know that you can better yourself and be a better version of yourself while you’re in a relationship?
Relationships provide a platform for you to be a better version of yourself, only if you’re willing.
These are some ways you can better yourself while in a relationship.
1. YOU CAN BUILD YOUR LISTENING SKILLS
Listening is a skill that not many have, but it’s a very important skill. A relationship provides a very good platform for building that skill; when you listen to your partner and you are attentive to your partner’s needs, body language and whatever your partner is saying; you can carry that skill to other places like your workplace.
Listening is an important skill that so many people take for granted because they want to be listened to and not listen to others.
2. COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Communication skill is another skill you can build in your relationship. Learning how to communicate to your partner effectively is a skill that you can use to your advantage while communicating with others. Communication skill involves talking and listening, but it also goes beyond this; understanding how that person wants to be communicated to is also important.
3. TOLERANCE
Building tolerance would help you associate with people better. Learning to tolerate your partner’s excesses can help you be a more tolerating person, and this would help you build good relationships with others.
4. SELFLESSNESS
Selflessness is the opposite of selfishness, and it’s a trait that’s really hard to build. A relationship is the perfect platform to build selflessness; learning how to put your partner over yourself or think more of the relationship benefits than your personal benefits would teach you to be a selfless person in not only your relationship, but life as well.
5. RESPECT
If you’re disrespectful to your partner, it would be harder to respect other people. How can you disrespect someone you claim to love? Treating your partner with respect would help you treat others with respect too.
6. FORGIVENESS
A good heart forgives and doesn’t bear grudges. A good heart is devoid of malice, grudges, unforgiving, being inconsiderate and being quick to anger. Learning to forgive your partner and getting rid of those bad traits would help you be a better person.
There are so many good virtues you can learn from your relationship, but you can only learn it when you set your heart to do so.
