Ignorance, they say is a disease. What you do not know can ruin or destroy you. There are many men today who are having difficulty making a child as a result of infertility, which is among other things, caused by the ineffectiveness of the sperm. The male sperm has to be perfect in both quality (rich and not watery) and quantity (not too small) for it to be effective enough to trigger conception in a woman; when there’s an enormous drop in both, infertility becomes inevitable.

Certain sicknesses and diseases can ultimately cause infertility in a man, but oftentimes, it’s the things and conditions that we ignorantly expose ourselves to that damage our sperm. Some of these conditions include…

1. MOBILE PHONES

Mobile phones are built to emit radiations. Now, these radiations are not dangerous until you take your phone too close to your scrotal or penile region. According to experts, these radiations can trigger as much as a 9% drop in live sperm per fluid sample. That is why you’re warned to keep your mobile phones as far away from your front pocket as possible.

2. STRESS

Stress hampers the smooth functioning of everything in the body, even the semen. According to health experts, anxiety which is a consequence of stress can cause the semen to be distorted in form. This distortion causes it to lose its mobility, and without mobility, there’s no way it can go far enough to stir conception in the woman. So it’s advised to keep stress in check. Do not overwork yourself.

3. DRINKING AND SMOKING

Drinking and smoking are bad for your sperm. When you drink as little as 5 bottles of beer a week, your semen is adversely affected. The same goes for smoking. The smoke that goes into your body negatively affects your sperm’s quality.

4. HEAT

Have you wondered why semen is stored in cool areas by hospitals that perform artificial insemination?  It’s because heat makes the semen watery, and watery sperm is as good as useless. Avoid very hot areas; stay in cool areas for your health’s sake. Do not wear multiple underwear; go without one if you feel the need to.

5. EXCESS WEIGHT

Excess weight can lead to erectile dysfunction, and other reproduction problems. Keep your weight in check. Shed a few pounds if necessary.

6. EXCESS SUGAR

Sugar is good for energy, but excessive intake of it can lead to erectile dysfunction or weak erection. A man isn’t supposed to consume sugar in excess quantity.

If you’re in the habit of doing any or all of the above, the earlier you readjust your lifestyle, the better for you.
