6 THINGS YOU PROBABLY DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT BREASTFEEDING

breastfeeding

Naturally people just feel breastfeeding is breastfeeding, and all you just have to do is bring the baby to the nipple.

As simple as the concept of breastfeeding is, there are so many things surrounding it which you may not know with an ordinary eye; thanks to research

1. BIGGER BREASTS DOESN’T MEAN MORE MILK

You might be tempted to think that the bigger a breast is, the more milk it would be able to produce, but that is untrue. Milk production has nothing to do with the breast size; it has more to do with the milk glands.

2. IT BURNS CALORIES

Experts suggest that it takes about 500 calories to make the 24 to 28 ounces of breast milk that the average mom makes each day.

3. THE CRY OF YOUR BABY CAN STIMULATE MILK PRODUCTION

Normally the release of the hormone oxytocin is what stimulates milk production. This occurs after a baby has been sucking for about two minutes; the baby’s sucking is what would trigger the release of the oxytocin hormone. However, this isn’t the only thing that stimulates milk production; sometimes, even the cry of your baby can stimulate the production of milk.

4. A BREASTFEEDING MUM COULD ALSO FEEL EROGENOUS WHEN BREASTFEEDING

A woman who normally gets frisky when her breast is being fondled could possibly feel some excitement from breastfeeding. An erogenous area wouldn’t stop being erogenous even when breastfeeding, and it as well isn’t uncommon. Even male partners can sometimes get stimulated when they see their partner breast-feeding.

5. BREASTFEEDING COULD CAUSE UTERINE CRAMPS

It isn’t uncommon to feel uterine cramps during or after breast-feeding. A baby’s sucking could trigger the release of not only oxytocin, but prolactin as well, and this could create uterine cramps.

6. BREASTFEEDING CREATES A BOND BETWEEN MOTHER AND CHILD

Breastfeeding creates a special bond between mother and baby, could possibly be the reason why the baby starts warming up to the mother first. Mothers sometimes feel a state of calmness and relaxed mind during breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding mothers should also not let others bully them; it’s natural and good for a baby’s health.
