6 REASONS WHY IT’S DIFFICULT TO BREAK UP SOMETIMES

couple breakup

We can’t lie to ourselves because at one point in our lives, we’ve all been here. Sometimes you know being in a relationship isn’t worth it but you just can’t bring yourself to end the relationship.

If you are going through this right now in your life, below are some of the reasons why I think breaking up is difficult sometimes

1. YOU’VE INVESTED SO MUCH IN THE RELATIONSHIP

It’s difficult breaking up sometimes after investing all of ourselves into making the relationship work. You have invested so much time, energy and even money into making the relationship work and you just feel letting go means everything you invested becomes a huge waste.

2. IT’S DIFFICULT MAKING CHANGES AS HUMANS

Naturally as humans, it’s really difficult to makes changes in our lives after we have become so used and comfortable to a particular thing. This also applies to relationships too. Even though we know breaking up is the best thing, we still try to resist change and stick with what we know and have been used to.

3. FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN

Being scared of the unknown is another reason why it’s difficult for many to break up. You sometimes wonder what life would be without your partner. It’s even more difficult when your partner supports you financially and you just wonder who will do all that for you. Being scared of the unknown has kept many in relationships they should have ended.

4. OTHER PEOPLE’S OPINION

Some people are so worried about what people close to them would say if they break up. The fear of other people’s opinion has kept many in a relationship they should have left.

5. MEMORIES

It’s also difficult to break up sometimes when you think about the good moments you shared with your partner. Sometimes you just wish you could go back to the way things were before even though you know it’s no longer possible.

6. FEAR OF BEING ALONE

For some, being single really scares them. They would prefer being in an unhealthy relationship instead of being single. They fear it may take them a long time to get another relationship so they stick with what they have even when they know the relationship isn’t good for them.  Being scared of being alone has kept many in relationships they shouldn’t be in.

It’s important you know that no reason is good enough to remain in an unhealthy relationship. If the little voice inside your head tells you that you are better off leaving, it’s important you just leave.

Don’t remain in an unhealthy relationship because the sex is good. I would prefer a good relationship with bad sex to having an unhealthy relationship with good sex.

It’s really important you do what’s right for you.
