6 FOODS THAT COULD MAKE YOU SMELL

smell

Ordinarily, sweat doesn’t smell; it’s the bacteria on the body that causes it to have a smell. But do you know that there are certain foods you eat that could make you smell?

Check out some of those foods.

1. ALCOHOL

When alcohol is consumed, it is absorbed and metabolised into the acetic acid before being released through your sweat pores. The acetic acid could cause you to have a bad smell.

2. COFFEE

Do you know that excessive coffee intake could make your breath smell? Coffee intake could cause a dryness in the mouth which could contribute to the growth of bacteria, and in turn cause a smell.

3. SPICES

Spices like garlic and onions come with loads of health benefits, but they could also make you have a bad smell. They are rich in sulphur which is notoriously known for its bad smell.

4. ASPARAGUS

You may notice that after consuming asparagus, your urine might have an unpleasant odour. This odour is thought to be derived from the digestion of a sulphur compound, mercaptan. This compound breaks down into smelly chemical components.

5. RED MEAT

Minus the other health risks that come with red meat consumption, excessive red meat intake could also give an unpleasant odour. Red meat is difficult to digest in the G.I tract, and this would leave residue behind that would cause an unpleasant smell when released through sweat which would in turn mix with the bacteria on your skin.

6. LOW CARB DIETS

Carbohydrates are highly important; they are the main source of energy, and a lack of carbohydrate could cause the body to produce other sources of energy such as ketone bodies. Ketone bodies produce acetone which could cause one to have unpleasant smell, especially bad breath.

You are what you eat truly; just as there are certain foods that could give you a pleasant smell, there are also foods that would give you an unpleasant odour, and these foods would give you an unpleasant odour.
