5 WAYS TO BREAK DOWN THE BARRIERS OF UNHAPPINESS

Let’s face facts; there are more unhappy people than happy people in the world today. That’s why the world is full of fighting, crime, anger, wickedness, murder, suicide and a host of other terrible things. Just imagine a world filled with happy people and how peaceful it would be?

But then there are barriers that are keeping you from being happy that has little or nothing to do with money. You would only understand this article after you’ve understood the barriers that are holding you from happiness.

This is how to break those barriers.

1. BREAK THE CHAIN OF HEDONIC ADAPTATION

Hedonic adaptation is a term used by psychologists to explain why happiness doesn’t last, no matter what happens. The idea behind this is that no matter how good something made us feel, we get back to our previous emotion after a while; that’s why the feelings of getting married, promoted, moving into that big house, buying a new car fade off after a while.

How then can we fight against hedonic adaptation? It’s simply by being grateful for all that you have and appreciate the fact that you are alive to fight for the things you don’t. Being grateful in every stage of life you find yourself is highly important.

2. BE FOCUSED

A lack of focus can also make you unhappy, while being focused can make you extremely happy. It’s like preparing for an exam. When you are sure that you are absolutely prepared for the exam, you would feel calm, happy and relaxed. But when you aren’t prepared, you feel jittery and tensed.

Lack of focus could come in distractions, side attractions or even friends. And you would never be happy until you learn to be focused on whatever it is you want to achieve. So kick off those distractions and stay focused.

3. LET LOVE INTO YOUR HEART

This is probably the greatest key to finding happiness and breaking the barriers of unhappiness. Let love in your heart, love yourself, love your friends, love your family, love those around you, love nature, love good things, love that stranger that you don’t feel the need to love. When you let love in, peace and happiness would come along. Love is probably the greatest gift of life and it attracts other positive things like happiness and peace of mind.

4. DON’T GIVE FEAR A CHANCE

Don’t give fear a room in your life, else you would find yourself being a tenant and at its mercy in your life. Everything you want is on the other side of fear. Read these tips to overcome fear.

5. FIND A PURPOSE

Live for something or you would fall for everything. Finding a purpose in life is probably life’s trickiest tasks, but when you find that purpose, unhappiness would be far off from you.

Living your life without a goal, without passion, without a drive would make you be tossed around, to and fro.

 

Break these barriers and you would break the barriers to unhappiness.
