5 WAYS NOT TO ANSWER A PHONE CALL

There are DOs and DON’Ts in most of the activities we engage in. Now, while penalty for breaking these codes can be heavy sometimes, other times, it’s just public embarrassment. Answering phone calls is almost an everyday activity because communication is part of our existence, and phones are the quickest, easiest way of doing that. But how many of us actually do it the way it should? Do you know that you can expose yourself to danger via the way you answer a phone call? What about the public embarrassment? I know a lot of us probably didn’t know this, so we’ll get right into some of those ways you shouldn’t answer a phone call.

GESTICULATING WHILE ON THE PHONE IN PUBLIC

There are no health hazards to doing this, except the impression you give of yourself to the people around you. Using your hands to demonstrate and gesticulate while on a call would always attract the attention of people around you, and they’ll look at you in an embarrassing manner.

The funny bit about it is that it isn’t even necessary because the person you’re talking to can’t even see you. So why put yourself under the spotlight unnecessarily?

OVER- AUDIBILITY (SHOUTING ON PHONE)

I’ve seen it happen over and over again, people subconsciously being overly audible while on a phone call. Obviously, it mostly happens because they want to be heard more, but it’s unnecessary, especially in public. Shouting on a phone around people is just as embarrassing as demonstrating, but it’s even more annoying because the noise pollution can be irritating.

ANSWERING A CALL WHILE PHONE IS CHARGING

There’s no medical or engineering supported evidence to follow this warning, but the truth remains that its dangerous, as it’s still connected to electricity, and with the transmission of frequencies and signals, it’s possible to get electrocuted or sustain injuries as a result of an explosion. I have seen a lot of people who have suffered both, so it’s advised to unplug your phone from the power source to be on a safer side.

HOLDING YOUR PHONE TO ONE EAR WITH THE ‘LOUDSPEAKER’ MODE ENABLED

The purpose of the loudspeaker in mobile phones is to make it easier for people to communicate, especially when it involves more than two people. It’s absolutely unnecessary to do that when you’re not conference- calling. And if you see the need to switch to ‘loud speak’ mode, be sure to not take it too close to your ear. It can ruin your eardrums due to the loudness level.

ANSWERING A CALL IN PUBLIC WITH THE LOUDSPEAKER OPTION ON

Some of us are fond of doing this. It’s very crude and disrespectful to do that. Unless you are on a conference call with other people, doing that is polluting the quiet wherever you find yourself. If you have to put it on loudspeaker because you can’t hear clearly enough, go to a private place.
