5 TIPS FOR GIVING YOUR PARTNER A ROMANTIC PET NAME

Adding your romantic side to your relationship would make your relationship a bit spicier, and pet names can add that spice to the romantic nature of your relationship.

Calling your partner by his/her real name is so old-school; it’s definitely not 21st century; it doesn’t add that magic that a pet name can add, it’s so flat and dry.

Pet names shouldn’t be taken ordinarily as they have a good effect on your partner, even without your knowing. Pet names play two important roles; it shows that you care about your partner and it also makes your partner feel special, valued and loved.

1. DON’T JUST GO WITH THE POPULAR

There are more than a million pet names you can call our special someone but people rather stick to the common and popular ones; that is like taking a safe and easy bet. You can be innovative; try something new but something that would suit the context of your relationship. Not that going with the popular is wrong but it sometimes doesn’t seem that romantic as it is so common.

2. PET NAMES SHOULD REFLECT FEELINGS

This is the basics for giving your partner a pet name; a pet name should be given based on your feeling for that special someone and how that person makes you feel when you’re with him or her. If your partner makes you feel beautiful or loved, let the name reflect it. A pet name should basically be a reflection of feelings and emotions.

3. YOUR PARTNER’S REACTION

Giving a pet name is one thing, and your partner liking it is another. You should study your partner to know if the pet name you gave him or her is suitable. If your partner reacts well to the pet name then you have yourself the perfect pet name to call that special person in your life, but if your partner finds it a little offensive or doesn’t react too well to it, you should probably look for another.

4. IT SHOULD SIGNIFY STRENGTH

A pet name should be focused on the good side of your partner and not the weak side. A pet name should be able to signify the strength of your partner and the strength of your relationship as well.

5. IT SHOULDN’T BE A COPY-CAT THING

The fact that your friend’s partner react extremely well to a pet name doesn’t mean your partner would as well react in the same manner. People are wired differently; what one person sees as good, another might find it weird. So the trick is, let your pet name focus on your relationship alone; not on anyone else.

Have you been focusing on trends and not your relationship to give pet names? Remember, pet names should be a little more original, depending on how you and your partner feel.
