5 THINGS WE ALL FIND ANNOYING ABOUT SOCIAL MEDIA

Social media is all fun and cool, but there are also lots of negativity to it. Here are some of the things we all at least consider irritating on social media.

FRAUD

Social media is an open market of different people from different places. For the average person, there are no real ways of telling who everyone else is, so it’s easy to fall for a false claim or person on social media. People lose money and property worth so much to total strangers masquerading as ‘friends’ on social media. That part of it is really frightening.

THE FAKE LIFE

It’s easy for someone to pretend to be in a particular area on social media. All they have to do is just upload a location of their choice, and voila, have a lot of people believing their lie. There are people who borrow cars and clothes to take pictures for Instagram too, all in a bid to fit into a social system that they don’t have to fit in.

SPAM MESSAGES

If you’re on WhatsApp or Facebook, or you were on BBM, then it’s very likely you’ve come across one of those messages that are intended to frighten you into spreading them. They usually go like this, “…send this to all your contacts in 30 minutes or…”

The truth is nothing really would happen if you don’t obey the instruction, but because of fear, a lot of people do, thereby inconveniencing others.

FALSEHOOD

There was one time Ebola hit parts of Africa, and everyone was scared. Some idiot somewhere thought to capitalise on it, and spread complete falsehood. They made a broadcast about how bathing with salt was the only way to stay alive at that time, and sadly, most folks bought the lie. Eventually, it was exposed for what it was.

PORNOGRAPHY

When you have different kinds of people as friends and followers on social media, there’s really not much you can do in terms of content you see sometimes. It’s very easy to be sent porn, even when you didn’t ask for it on social media.

These are some of the annoying things about social media, but the truth is regardless of them, we’ll never get enough of those platforms.
