It’s really sad to see lots of people today with lots of unrealistic expectations for their relationships. The birth of TV means it is now easier than ever to influence people and lots of young people have been fed with wrong ideas of what a relationship should really be.
Below are 5 relationship truths everyone should know
1. SOME RELATIONSHIPS ARE NOT MEANT TO LAST FOR EVER
When we start a new relationship with someone, we all wish the relationship last forever. We all pray to spend the rest of our lives with that person but the truth we all have to know is that not all relationships are meant to last forever. Don’t think it’s the end of the world if the relationship ends; you should always know that whosoever is meant to stay would stay.
2. EVERY RELATIONSHIP HAS ITS PECULIAR PROBLEMS, LEARN TO FACE IT
If you are serious about being in a relationship, you need to understand that every relationship comes with its own problems and running away from the problems means you are not ready for a relationship. You should understand that when you overcome the challenges in your relationship, you strengthen the foundations of your relationship.
3. LEARN TO ACCEPT PEOPLE THE WAY THEY ARE
Don’t try to change your partner, you have to learn to accept people the way they are if you want peace in your relationship. One relationship truth you should know is that your partner should learn to accept you the way you are because you are the only person that has the right to change who you are.
4. YOU NEED TO LOVE YOURSELF FIRST
This is an important relationship truth everyone needs to know. You can’t love someone if you don’t love yourself first. The truth is when you love yourself, you would love your partner better. Just because you are in a relationship doesn’t mean you lose your individuality and you stop taking care of yourself.
5. YOU ARE YOUR OWN SAVIOUR
Your partner isn’t supposed to be your saviour or messiah; you should understand that you are your own saviour. You have got to learn to take care of yourself and not expect your partner to always catch you every time you fall. I understand your partner needs to be there for you always but you also need to learn to be your own saviour too.
