5 REASONS TO LET GO OF RESENTMENT IN YOUR LIFE

Resentment is found in many people, and not everyone is willing to let go of it. Resentment means bearing grudges, being unforgiving, it’s a feeling of continuous displeasure and anger.

Resentment is bad for us emotionally and psychologically and could be destructive over time. Many friendships and relationships have come to an end because of resentment.

Below are some reasons you should let go of resentment:

1. YOU POISON YOUR MIND

You only end up poisoning your mind when you harbour resentment towards another person. You end up being bitter and continuously angry while the person you have resentments over might be free. When you harbour resentment, you poison your mind and you should know that a poisoned mind can corrupt the whole of your body.

2. YOU HAVE PEACE OF MIND

Have you ever seen a person who harbours resentment living life with peace of mind? No way! A poisoned mind can never be at peace. But when you let go of grudges and learn to forgive, you would experience peace of mind.

3. YOU WOULD BE ANGRY FOR NO REASON

Resentment is a killer; resentment could make you angry for no reason and that’s why you should let go of it. When you harbour resentment, it would find a way to replay memories in your brain over a period of time. Playing these memories over and over again would only make you unnecessarily angry when you ought not to be.

4. IT BECOMES EASIER TO FORGIVE

When you harbour resentment, it’s impossible to forgive. But forgiveness becomes easier when you let go of resentment. Try not to keep grudges and you would find that your mind would be free, making it easier for you to forgive.

5. FORGIVENESS SHOWS STRENGTH

According to Gandhi: “The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is an attribute of the strong.” Forgiveness is more than what you think it is; it shows strength of character and it isn’t something the feeble-minded can do.

Resentment would never bring you any good, but would bring ruins to your life. Rather than keep grudges or replay certain toxic incidents in your mind, why don’t you let go, move on and experience a life of peace?
